Depending on the number of grafts being transplanted and the technique used, the operation usually takes about 5 to 6 hours.

The primary source of donor hair that is used in hair transplantation is located at the back of the head.
As the hair follicles in the region along the back of the head and between the ears are resistant to hair loss, they remain as the primary source of grafts used in hair transplantation.
The hair follicles extracted from the donor area does not grow back again, for this reason efficient utilization of the donor area remains the most significant element in hair transplantation.
Hair follicles are extracted from the donor area homogeneously so the donor site will not be noticeable after the surgery

A hair transplant is usually carried out under local anaesthetic, which means you will not feel any pain. As of 2019, Dr. Serkan Aygin Clinic has started to carry out hair transplantation with sedation so as to make their patients feel more comfortable during the operation. After a hair transplant procedure, the amount of time required for recovery, healing and growth of the new hairs, is extended over a period of 12 months.
Between 2 to 3 weeks after a hair transplant procedure most patients experience a phenomenon known as “shock hair loss“, where the new hair grafts enter a resting phase and the hairs are shed.
This is a perfectly normal and natural process that most patients experience after a hair transplant procedure. There is nothing to worry about.
After the shedding of the newly transplanted grafts your new, healthy hairs will soon begin to grow in their place.
In about 2 to 2.5 months your transplanted hair will be entering its normal growth cycle and grow approximately 1.5 cm every month.
From 9th month onwards, the transplanted hair will improve in texture and at the 12-month mark, it will get thicker blending with the person’s own natural hair structure.

Do you have hair transplant services for women patients?

Hair transplant, DHI, Soft FUE, Sapphire

Although the majority of hair transplantation patients are still men, a high percentage of women have also started looking into a hair transplant procedure as a hair loss treatment.
Women opt for hair transplantation generally to lower their hairline or to add more volume.
Women are not required to have their heads completely shaved.
To carry out the extraction process only a small area in the donor site is shaved but will remain completely ‘undetectable’.
Women with long hair can easily conceal the donor area with their hair let down and this way, no one will be able to tell that they have undergone a hair transplant procedure.
For this reason hair transplantation is highly favored amongst women.

Generally most patients are able to return to work after 2 days.
Additionally, we recommend patients who are engaged in work activities that may represent risk exposure to dust, sunlight and head injuries, to take one week off from work. You can book your flight 1or 2 days after your hair transplant procedure. Please, bear in mind that the scabs will remain on the transplanted area for around 12-15 days.

In the narrowest sense of the term, the soft FUE technique refers to carrying out hair transplantation under sedation.
As the patient will remain awake without feeling any discomfort, he/she will not feel the graft extraction, recipient site creation and transplantation processes.

- Soft FUE provides high levels of comfort to patients as well as the medical team.
- The patient receiving sedation does not feel any pain during the administration of local anesthesia.
- The patient remains conscious over the course of the procedure.

Hair transplant, DHI, Soft FUE, Sapphire, After Hair Transplant

Follicles for transplanting are harvested from the donor area, which is usually the rear and sides of the head.
This area is also known as the "safe zone".
As the follicles on the sides and back of the head are not affected by the DHT hormone, they are not prone to hair loss.
When hair follicles are extracted from the donor area and transplanted to the areas that need coverage, they will be showing the same bald-resistant traits.
In cases where the donor areas remain weak and insufficient to supply the amount of hair for the transplant, then beard hair can be used as an additional donor resource for the procedure.
Beard grafts remain in the growth (anagen) phase for long periods and after the back of the scalp, are an excellent alternative donor source for hair transplantation.
Beard grafts are known to be thicker than the grafts at the back of the head.
For this reason, to provide better volume in the transplanted area, hair grafts extracted from the beard are transplanted in the top and crown area, but it may not be the best option for front hair restoration.

How long should I wait between two hair transplant operations?

Hair transplant, DHI, Soft FUE, Sapphire, After Hair Transplant

We advise waiting at least 6-7 months between sessions with 12 months being ideal.
Because in order to create an operation plan for the second hair transplant procedure, the results of the first hair transplant should be seen first.
A one year period is required to achieve maximum growth of the newly transplanted hairs and for all the incision marks to be undetectable.

Experience remains a critical determinant of the level of success of a hair transplant procedure.
Hair transplantation in Turkey has been applied for many long years.
Hair transplant procedures are performed by highly trained, qualified and specialized doctors, who have gained extensive knowledge as well as experience in the field of hair transplantation.

Which hair transplant method should I prefer?

Hair transplant, DHI, Soft FUE, Sapphire, Hair transplant Turkey

During your initial consultation, the physician will determine which transplantation method is best for you based on your hair loss classification, the size of the thinning area, quality and quantity of your available donor hair.
For example if the patient has severe hair loss and bald patches are too wide to be covered, even if the patient wants to undergo a one session hair transplant procedure using the DHI method, he/she will be a better candidate for the FUE technique.
The reason for this is that the FUE technique enables to harvest higher amounts of grafts in a single session.

- DHI method replicates every step of the FUE method excluding incision and transplantation. In DHI the last two steps are merged into one.
- The major distinctive feature of the DHI method compared to other hair transplant methods is that the DHI technique employs a pen-like medical instrument called "Choi impanter" that creates the recipient sites and simultaneously transplants the grafts.
- FUE method allows to transplant around 3000 to 4500 grafts in a single session, whereas in the DHI technique around 1500 to 2500 follicular unit grafts can be transplanted during a single session.
- DHI method has a faster recovery period and can be performed with less bleeding compared to the FUE method.
- FUE method is ideal for covering larger areas, whereas the DHI method provides a better possibility for achieveing higher density.
- FUE method requires patients to have their heads completely shaved prior to the procedure, whereas the DHI method only requires the donor area to be shaved. This provides a significant advantage for female patients.
- The DHI method requires more skill and experience than other hair transplant methods. This in turn, requires the physicians and medical teams to be exposed to a long-term training period so as to specialize in utilizing this technique.
- DHI hair transplantation is generally a more costly procedure when compared to other hair transplant methods.

Platelets are the source of growth factors that has the power to promote hair growth and also thicken your existing hair. Growth factor generates new formation of blood vessels in the transplant area, which in turn, increases the amount of oxygen and nutrients that are delivered to the newly transplanted hair follicles with subcutaneous blood flow.
For this reason, after hair transplantation PRP will be effective in promoting faster hair growth in transplanted follicles.

PRP and Low-Level Laser Therapy are 2 different methods used for the treatment of hair loss. Both methods address hair loss by promoting hair preservation and regrowth. Laser can be applied alone or combined with PRP.

The role of PRP is to strengthen the hair and prevent hair loss. PRP supported hair transplantation aims to promote and enhance tissue repair as well as stimulate new hair growth after the procedure.
LLLT also known as “cold laser” therapy, involves exposing cells or tissue to low levels of red and near infrared(NIR) light at a wavelength of 670 nanometers.
The main objective of applying low level laser therapy after hair transplantation is to speed up thealing time,to help reduce side effects such as redness, swelling as well as pain within the operated area and to promote the fastest hair growth possible.

PRP treatment involves taking a sample of the patient's blood, spinning the sample in a centrifuge and then injecting the concentrated platelet-rich plasma back into the affected site.
In PRP, the concentrated plasma of blood including platelets, growth factors, leukocytes, and cytokine is injected back into the body at the injury site.

For PRP treatment 5 to10 cc's of blood are drawn from the patient.

Platelet aggregation in PRP treatment is 2 to 4 times higher compared to the platelets in the bloodstream.
Platelets help your body form clots to stop bleeding and recover from injuries.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a source of growth factors that promote wound healing. These growth factors are very important in the repair and regeneration of damaged tissue. PRP contains a concentration of platelets that is significantly greater than that in baseline or peripheral blood. The regenerative properties of the platelets are targeted towards the injury site, which in turn helps to speed up the recovery process.
PRP contains high concentrations of platelets and works by accelerating the body’s own healing process as it addresses the injury site by encouraging the growth of new, healthy cells.

After hair transplantation, PRP treatment is usually received in 3 sessions with 2 to 3 week intervals between each session, with the aim to achieve better results.
The results of PRP treatment are most noticeable after the 2’nd session.
